What an awful week.   Loud thunder, flashes of lightning, hailstones and torrential rain.  Still, we shall reap the benefits when we have plenty of water during the summer.

The main story this week has been the conflicting news items regarding the necessity or not of registration for the State Health Scheme.   There have been various reports from the British Embassy (CLICK HERE) which seems to indicate that registration is not compulsory.   However, I don’t suppose we have heard the last of this so I will make sure I give you regular updates.   There is a very informative note prepared by one of our residents here following her successful registration in Fethiye (CLICK HERE).

If we do have to register, at least we shall save some money as we were actually married in Turkey so have a Turkish marriage certificate!

I was hoping to show you pictures of the new roundabout (the first in Gocek) but the weather has been so awful, I’m afraid you will have to wait until next week!

However, I can show you what has been happening in front of our apartment in the market place. (see photos).   I am not quite sure why they have started to build a wall – my best reason is that we have had a couple of small rock falls during the winter – but they are making a good job of it and have worked through the wind and rain
